Hosted a demo to the Sales staff of the new SPC site. “WOW!” was the response. They were very impressed and excited. The MD wants to have it available asap. As usual, once they’ve seen it, they want it. We may have to make an internal demo site available for them to show to customers. DH thinks version 1.0 should also support email settings. That’s contrary to our release plan but I’ll raise the issue to the project sponsor (TC).
Gamble paid off! Application testing for PID355 has not turned up any major problems. Everything is on schedule for the delivery point of next Tuesday. I’m happy with the coverage that my very new test team has provided. JR gets the credit for ramping the team up so quickly. There are concerns over how we will support the site once it’s in the customer’s hands. My felling is that since it’s a beta release, we just supply 9-5gmt support. We’ll see if that’s acceptable. I also hosted a ...
Had a very happy Thursday. Wife was in for 20 week scan. All is well. She and baby are heathy. Finalized a deal for my new dwelling. Won't be moving for weeks but we ended up getting a good deal. I'm also very happy with the flat and it's location. Had supper with Sarah's Godmother in Putney. They live in the most amazing house! I was standing in line to get a train ticket and this bloke walks up to me and gives me his 1 day travel card (z1&z2). He was done with it and it expired at m...
Delivered the software to test today. I've found a few bugs in the system but things look hopeful. I have a few concerns that the interface is not very intuitive. We’ll see have the test guys get on tomorrow.
Kicked off a reseach project: Convert "Rough Guides" to Smartphone format. Lance will pass to Lee.
My wife is pregnant. Hormones suck!
Met with the entire test team to review plans for accepting ROM Builder. All test scripts are written and the test plan seems solid. Biggest fear is that there is not enough time to actually perform all the tests adequately. We will not know until later this week how much time we’ll need to do bug fixing.
Met with Walt and engineers in Taiwan to review project and timelines for 100 field testing. Taiwan provided us with a base ROM image to use for testing. We’ll have the system up and running by mid-May so that Walt can use the interface to do field testing. There were no decision points in this meeting. Just a basic meet and greet followed by a brief timeline overview.
Meeting: EA Met with Phil, Terry and Lance this morning to discuss a “go forward” plan for EA. Didn’t get very far and wasted an hour plus. Results: Phil needs to go back to the commercial guys to get some priorities set. We may need to start working on MS first because of commercial deadlines.
This is my first blog. No wait… it’s my first “reluctant blog”. I have been strong-armed into the world of blogging by my boss TIM. I’ll publish all his personal details later so that everyone who is interested can contact him at home (day or night). Really! He doesn’t mind. Now that I’ve vented my anger, I’ll get on with it. This page will mostly represent a log of my work days and will largely be uninteresting to anyone who doesn’t work with me or for me. But I hope it will be a venue f...
